An installation
with a long story.

Wandering of single items
or small groups, within a continuous de-composition
and re-composition
of languages.
Pauses of reflection
or simple light-hearted rests.

Opening at Ravenna Festival,
Sala Dantesca
at the Classense Library
and after ten long years
at the Royal Palace in Milan

A yet unfinished voyage.

What are things, if man is absent? Inert forms, prints left in the grooves of history or pulsing figures of the imaginary? And, specifically, what does a piano without a pianist do? Does it wait, meditate, evocate or, simply, is there? Does it miss man at all?

Forty-five photographs, black and white, show pianos in different settings and looked at from various perspectives as creatures which are sometimes unsettling, almost always mysterious.
Some texts accompany the images, infusing them with a sort of evocative and wacky animism: brief stories, dialogues, poetic verses or paradoxical comments where a fantastic dimension intertwines with musical and literary references.
Sound ambience extracts from the piano its most unusual and interior voice, transforming the visual itinerary, translating the written word into infinite sonorities which dialogue with the images.
